Comments about ITT Night Enforcer PVS-14 Pinnacle Night Vision Monocular:
The NEPVS14-17, ( "17"series meaning Pinnacle tubed )uses the 9815SLG, ( Select Grade ),Pinnacle image tube from ITT. a Gen3, thin filmed, with auto gated power supply. ( the " thin film" feature will provide a better quality image while maintaining a long service life ), ( the auto gated pwr. supply will pulse the power maintaining an image during bright light conditions while also protecting the imager from bright light damage, this along with the ABC/ automatic brightness control and the user adjustable image gain will maintain a usable image even during the most light polluted viewing / survailance ) If weapon mounted you should not exceed .223 caliber. ( The Pinnacle series tubes by their design, reduces halos around illuminated items in the viewed image but at the price of making them sensative to excessive firearm recoil ) The combination of the above light limiting and light managing technology make the Pinnicle series imagers a perfect choice for Law Enforcement use , ie CQB, Urbahn / city light polluted environments.

Now for the bad news - The latest lot of NEPVS14-17's from ITT, in this buyer's opinion, MUST be "Hand Sellect" , that is choosen for the buyer so that he / she will get the maximum quality image available. This latest lot of scopes come with data sheets so a selection of high specifications is possible BUT I have seen cosmetic blemishes ( smuges / smears in the image ), and LOW resolution ( grainy , not clear crisp images ). So to sum it up, nothing beats checking the image by eye and not just going by the data sheets. If you need a monocular with city / urbahn / light pollution in mind a Pinnacle image is the latest and greatest, just have the image pre checked to avoid dis appointments.
